Wagtail Country Park is the perfect place for keen fishermen to relax and enjoy a days fishing from dawn ’til dusk

Wagtail currently has 25 acres and three well-stocked fishing lakes. There is a small lake exclusive to lodge owners, the second largest lake for our visiting touring fishermen and a third lake on our new Kingfisher area for lodge owners to enjoy. Our current lakes are attractively positioned within the development, one having reed beds and the others with central islands, which are beautifully planted, providing a lovely setting whilst you fish.

Our lakes have been dug into the natural clay bed and designed with the pleasure angler in mind. The sides slope gently away towards the lake bed which has been contoured and sculptured to different depths to provide more interesting features for both fish and angler.

Fishing Rules

• NO PEGS TO BE RESERVED OVERNIGHT

1. A valid rod fishing licence is required and must be presented.

2. Only Wagtail mats and landing nets to be used. Deposit £20.

3. Fishing from dawn until dusk only. No night fishing.

4. Children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult.

5. MAXIMUM HOOK SIZE 10.

6. BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY. No Barbed or Microbarbed Hooks.

7. Tackle must be moved from the lake if peg is unattended.

8. Fish being photographed must be held over an unhooking mat and returned to the water quickly.

9. NEVER leave bait or tackle unattended.
(Any equipment left unattended for over 1 hour will be removed)

10. Bite Alarms allowed but must be kept to a low volume.

11. No Keep Nets to be used.

12. No floating baits or surface fishing.

13. No Boilies or Trout Pellets or Nuts.

14. Strictly no braid main line.

15. Please do not throw in Ground Bait – only use in feeders.

PLEASE TREAT FISH AND OTHER ANGLERS WITH RESPECT AND BE MINDFUL OF WILDLIFE AND WATERFOWL.

PLEASE RETURN FISH VIA THE LANDING NET.

PLEASE REPORT ANY WILDLIFE PROBLEMS TO THE OFFICE.

We do bailiff the lakes.

If any of these rules are abused, it will result in no fishing, and you may be asked to leave the Park.

Fishing Tickets are obtained from Park Reception

Fishing Ticket Charges:
£6.00 per person per day for 1 rod – 2 rods £10.00 per day.
Fish for 7 days and pay for 6.
We do not accept day tickets for fishing from non-residents.
